Topher - You're right that the C's superstarred their way to greatness (as did the Lakers - Thanks Chris Wallace). But not sure why you think the C's are gonna need more luck than the Lakers. I'm pretty sure the C's are going to lose to the Heat. And since the C's are basically even with the Lakers (I'll grant you the Lakers were the slightly better team), the Lakers aren't beating the Heat either. Sorry man. Kobe's gonna be stuck on 5, and the Lakers stuck on 16, until the next generation of NBA Greats manifests.

Thanks for the honest response as opposed to the blindly faithful, never say die attitude. It's refreshing.
Do The C's win if Perk never get's hurt? I don't know, but safe to say Kobe doesn't pull down 15 boards...
You guys are going to have a tough time for sure. I think the best things you have going are 1) Coaching, 2) experience and 3) a newly diluted East. The Atlantic could be worse than it was last year, so that will be good for you guys. Best of luck this season. You're gonna' need it.

Topher,

Welcome to the site and thanks for the comments. Always good to hear from a Lakers fan! haha. Realistically, no it doesn't look good for the Celtics as far as beating the Heat or even making it back to the finals. My hope is that after that game 7 loss they are hungrier than last year and come playoff time they are healthy. Thats the key. This year we were extremely lucky to have everyone healthy come playoffs.

Although that all went down the drain when Perk was injured for game 7 (We would of beat you with him! haha) With that said, no one thought we could get as far as we did last year and my hope is that is the same case for next season. We still need more depth on our bench if we want to compete, but there is still a lot of offseason left!

Let me start by saying that this is the first time I've been to this site. A friend and Celtics loyalist told me about it and it looks like a top notch site. I applaud your efforts. Now, that having been said, I understand that A) I'm reading Celtics 24/7 and B) you're still bitter from the loss The Lakers ( not just Kobe, but the entire team) delivered to you and C) scared to death of the Heat, but you seriously can make the argument that you can't superstar your way to greatness... I'm pretty sure Danny Ainge will be first in line to disagree. And as a Lakers fan, I'd love it if you guys beat the Heat in 6 games, but that simply isn't happening. The Celts had an OK season and an outstanding playoff run, but there is NO way... NO way that they can match up with the Heat. Only team in The L that can are well on their way to the Three-Peat.

I see what your saying. Kobe and Shaq did make it work because they were so talented, but when it was Payton, Kobe, Shaq and Malone they failed. So lets hope that three guys trying to share the ball is too much for them.

You guys are far more optimistic than I am. Miami's gonna win the next two titles at least. Kobe and Shaq hated one another and had HUGE egos but won three just because they were young and dominant. Miami's not losin to nobody. Look on the bright side though... Now Kobe won't get another and the Lakers will be stuck on 16, thus ensuring the C's as the GOAT!

Great article. I agree with every aspect of it. The Big 3 in Boston was almost needed to be made. With KG in Minnesota and Ray in Seattle, they really needed somewhere else to go. We fought for the Championship that year and earned it. As for LBJ and Bosh? They played for overall good teams, Cavs were the favorites going into the Post-season and Toronto was an inch away from making the playoffs. With that said, I wanna see how these 3 ball-hogs match up with each other this year.
